Khunjerab Pass, the border between Pakistan and China is the highest paved road crossing between any two countries. It was part of the historic silk route from China to the western world.
Starting from Islamabad one can travel on Karakorum Highway, in the Indus gorge, passing under the shadows of Nanga Pabat, Altitude 8125m, Rakaposhi altitude 7788m in addition to numerous other mighty peaks. Side valleys also offer good dirt tracks in total wilderness conditions.
